The World Health Assembly has adopted a resolution titled “Increasing Availability, Ethical Access, and Oversight of Transplantation of Human Cells, Tissues, and Organs.” This resolution emphasises the need to expand transplantation, maximise donations from deceased donors, protect living donors, combat organ trafficking, and address innovation in this field. The resolution is based on the Santander Declaration from the Global Transplant Summit in November 2023.

The latest issue of Transplant International features a multicentre Spanish study in which sex-related inequities in access to liver transplantation were investigated. In memoriam: Paul McMaster
We are deeply saddened by the passing of Prof Paul McMaster, the legendary English surgeon who founded the Liver Unit in Birmingham, UK, pioneered liver transplantation in the 70s and 80s working with Sir Roy Calne and was one of the founding fathers of ELITA and a President of ESOT.
Tremor and tacrolimus formulation
In the latest issue of Transplant International, Magali Giral et al. (France) demonstrated that switching from immediate- and prolonged-release tacrolimus to extended-release tacrolimus was associated with a significant positive effect on tremor and SF-12 mental component score. In addition, other neurological symptoms and the physical component score also tended to improve.
