The Solid Organ Transplant (SOT) Patient Journey is a research project led by the European Society for Organ Transplantation (ESOT), in collaboration with the London School of Economics and Political Science, Department of Health Policy.

The objective of the research is to identify areas of best practice in the field of kidney transplantation in Europe and in the kidney transplantation clinical journey.

The study will be executed in 50 centres in five major European countries: United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy and Spain and it assess the journey of the kidney transplant patients and the different stakeholders who intervene in the journey, across different stages. From the transplant center and evaluation to the transplant and post-transplant stage. The goal is to gain an understanding of the different processes and procedures, unmet needs for patients and physicians, gaps and experiences from the different stakeholders involved.

The results of this research will serve as guidance to the creation of guidelines that will be submitted to the European Commission and the Council of Europe to be adopted as best practice for kidney transplantation across Europe.
