The European Society for Organ Transplantation (ESOT), is committed to its mission of promoting the well-being of all individuals requiring a transplant and of the persons with a transplant, regardless of their background or the circumstances they find themselves in.
We express our deep concern about the impact of the conflict on healthcare infrastructure as well as Healthcare personnel and services in Gaza. This has impacted the delivery of routine as well as highly specialised activity such as transplant care, causing significant disruption and placing the life of many patients in danger.
We call upon the international community to advocate for an immediate end to hostilities, the protection of human rights and health in Israel and Gaza, with restoration of essential care services in Gaza and the broader region. We call for the unhindered access of medical aid to those in need and for preserving healthcare facilities as safe zones.
We encourage all parties involved to engage in constructive dialogue and seek a lasting resolution that respects the rights and aspirations of both Israelis and Palestinians.
We hope humanity will prevail.
