How can Europe strengthen the resilience of organ donation and transplantation systems in the face of future crises?
The BRAVEST project will address this question during its final stakeholder webinar, Strengthening Organ Donation & Transplantation in Europe: Results & Next Steps, taking place on 10 September 2026 at 17:00 CEST.
The webinar will present the project’s final results and key lessons from its work on the resilience of organ donation and transplantation systems during public health emergencies and other crises. It will also introduce the BRAVEST recommendations and implementation framework, with a focus on how the project’s findings can be translated into policy and practice across Europe.
From evidence to action
The one-hour programme will bring together speakers involved in the BRAVEST project to discuss the evidence generated throughout the project and what it means for the future of organ donation and transplantation.
The programme will begin with an overview of the key lessons from BRAVEST research, including the growing importance of data sharing. This will be followed by a presentation of the survey conducted by the Hungarian National Blood Transfusion Service and its findings, before moving to the BRAVEST recommendations and tools.
The webinar will conclude with a panel discussion bringing together representatives from France, Italy, Hungary, Spain, Slovenia and the Netherlands. The discussion will focus on how BRAVEST recommendations can be integrated into national policies and practice, the challenges to implementation, and how European collaboration can help strengthen preparedness for future crises.
Looking beyond the project
While the BRAVEST project is reaching its conclusion, the discussion will look at how its work can continue to support more resilient and better-prepared organ donation and transplantation systems across Europe.
The webinar is open to everyone, including national competent authorities, organ donation organisations, transplant centres, healthcare professionals, policymakers, patient organisations, researchers and European and international transplantation networks.
