ESOT has announced the appointment of new board members to its European Kidney Transplant Association (EKITA) for the 2025–2029 term.
As one of ESOT’s key Organ Expert Sections, EKITA provides a dedicated platform for advancing kidney transplantation across Europe. Its mission includes fostering scientific exchange, promoting education and research, developing guidelines, and providing advisory input at both national and European levels.
New Leadership for EKITA
The newly appointed EKITA Board Members bring a wealth of expertise and experience in kidney transplantation. Their leadership is expected to guide EKITA in strengthening collaboration, driving innovation, and improving outcomes for patients across Europe.
The new EKITA Board Members (2025–2029) are:
- Marije Baas, Nephrologist at the Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre – Nijmegen, The Netherlands
- Anna Manonelles, Transplant Nephrologist at the Hospital Universitari de Bellvitge – Barcelona, Spain
- Michelle Willicombe, Clinical Reader in Kidney Transplantation at Imperial College and Honorary Consultant Nephrologist at the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust – London, United Kingdom
Founded as part of ESOT’s mission to unite and empower the transplantation community, EKITA has become a central forum for clinicians, surgeons, nephrologists, scientists, and coordinators working in kidney transplantation.
With the incoming Board members, EKITA is poised to expand its role as a bridge between cutting-edge science and clinical practice, supporting professionals across the continent while ensuring that patients benefit from the latest advances.
