EDTCO Organ Donation Congress 2023

Primary Topics:
organ donation, ICOD, organ allocation
Start Date:
Saturday, September 16th 2023
End Date:
Saturday, September 16th 2023
Country:
Athens, Greece
Description & Objectives:

Donor detection and organ procurement are at the base of organ transplantation. Organ procurement procedures and skills have rapidly evolved in the last years, mainly due to the spread of ICOD and DCD donation. At the same time, coordinators have to face new interactions with transplant centres and new incoming technologies, i.e. perfusion devices. This congress is an opportunity to share with all EDTCO members up-to-date presentations about those topics on the pipeline of organ procurement and transplant coordination, with the aim, at the same time, to create an appealing event also for those professionals who have not yet joined EDTCO.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Participants can learn the European practice of early potential donor detection (ICOD), pre-and post-mortem DCD interventions, related technical aspects, organ donation specific challenges with ECMO, desensitisation strategies, and the most recent ethical and legal issues aspects of deceased organ donation from a donor coordination point of view.

Target Group:

Healthcare professionals directly involved or interested in the deceased and living organ and tissue donation, clinical coordination and procurement activities, such as (but not limited to) transplant coordinators, procurement professionals, and related professional groups.
