Mitochondria and Graft Viability in Liver Preservation

In the latest issue of Transplant International, Meszaros et al. assessed liver biopsies during static cold storage for their viability and mitochondrial bioenergetics using real-time confocal imaging analysis and high-resolution respirometry. Both indicators were found to be predictive of liver transplant outcomes, more specifically of early allograft dysfunction.
