Start Date:
Sunday, January 28th 2024
End Date:
Tuesday, January 30th 2024

Innsbruck-Igls, Austria
Description & Objectives:

This is the largest meeting in Europe in the field of beta cell replacement, including pancreas and islet transplantation and stem cell-derived insulin-secreting cells. Scientists, clinicians, students, and the technical staff get together to share knowledge, experiences and outcomes. This meeting is critical to provide guidance to young professionals and collectively provide a European and International consensus (Igls score, and in 2024, a consensus meeting for Islet quality and release criteria).

We aim to promote engagement with clinicians, scientists, trainees and allied healthcare professionals across Europe with pancreas and islet transplantation expertise. To share new scientific developments and techniques. To benchmark outcomes and results across European centres involved in clinical pancreas and islet transplantation. To promote education for scientists, clinicians, trainees and allied healthcare professionals involved in pancreas and islet transplantation.

Learning objectives

  1. Guide expertise in islet isolation and patient management
  2. Aspects of Immunology and current immunosuppression relevant to patients who have beta cell replacement
  3. Complex case discussions
  4. Management of infectious disease in transplant patients
