ETAHP Board Member 2024 - 2028

Shadab Abadpour received her PhD degree from the University of Oslo in Nov 2018 with the thesis entitled ‘’Strategies to prevent islet cell damage by targeting micro-environmental stress – Implication for clinical islet transplantation’’. She then worked as a post-doc and is currently, a researcher at Oslo University Hospital, focusing on the generation of insulin-producing islet organoids from induced pluripotent stem cells and ductal progenitor cells. She is also investigating tissue engineering strategies including 3D bioprinting and organoid technologies to biofabricate multicellular scaffolds for islet organoids that can be transplanted in alternative extra-hepatic sites. In addition, she is a member of The Nordic Network for Clinical Islet Transplantation. She is also part of a multi-disciplinary project developing organ-on-a-chip platforms for studying the interaction of pancreatic islets with other tissue types involved in diabetes and energy metabolism.
