Dr. Sándor Mihály is the director of transplantation at the Hungarian National Blood Transfusion Service. He is managing the Organ Coordination Office, the Central Waiting List Office, the National Organ and Tissue Donation Opting-out Registry and the Hungarian Stem Cell Registry.
He has 20 years of experience in donor transplant coordination. During these working years he was mainly involved in deceased organ donor coordination, development of national programs for the framework of coordination, development of the national organ donor and transplant follow-up registry, quality assurance, hospital coordination, training programs and international organ exchanges.
Sándor Mihály is Senior Secretary in Board of Transplant Coordination (Union Européene des Medecins Spécialistes (UEMS), Section of Surgery, European Board of Surgery, Division of Transplantation).
He is the Past-Chair of European Donation Transplant Coordinators Organisation (EDTCO), ESOT section.
He is the national representative of the Hungarian National Competent Authority for organ donation and transplantation in the European Commission.
He is the national representative at the European Committee on Organ Transplantation (CD-P-TO) which is the steering committee in charge of organ transplantation activities at the EDQM, Council of Europe.
He is teaching donor transplant coordination at the Semmelweis University for 15 years.
He is an Honorary College Associate Professor at Semmelweis University.
He is the General Secretary of the Hungarian Transplantation Society.
He was the local and scientific organizer committee chair of the European Organ Donation Congress (EDTCO) in Budapest, 2014.
Sándor Mihály is the author or co-author of 3 book chapters and 47 scientific publications. From 2007 to the present day, he has given 241 lectures at domestic or international scientific events and congresses.
