Mr Nicos Kessaris undertook his Specialist Registrar training in General Surgery and Transplantation in London. He spent his last two years of training at Guy’s and St Thomas’ as well as Hammersmith Hospitals.

He worked at St George’s Renal Transplant Unit as a Consultant between 2007 and 2012. He was the Director of Transplantation for the last two years and he successfully established the ABO and HLA incompatible transplant programs.

Mr Kessaris has been a Consultant at Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust since April 2012. He is currently involved in renal, pancreas as well as paediatric transplantation. He performs hand-assisted retroperitoneoscopic live donor nephrectomy, vascular access, peritoneal dialysis catheter insertion, parathyroidectomy and general surgery for renal patients. He is an Honorary Consultant at Great Ormond Street Hospital and Honorary Senior Lecturer at King’s College, London.

Special interests

Perform kidney, pancreas and paediatric transplantation as well as hand-assisted retroperitoneoscopic live donor nephrectomy, vascular access, peritoneal dialysis catheter insertion, parathyroidectomy and general surgery for renal patients.
