Merel Hellemons (MD,PhD) is assistant professor and pulmonologist at the Erasmus University Medical Center, in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Within the Erasmus MC Transplant Institute she works as scientific director of the lung transplantation programme, and is a consultant in lung transplantation, with a particular focus on patients with interstitial lung disease. Her research mainly focuses on improving patients’ outcomes by care evaluation and implementation of a wide range of innovative techniques within the field of lung transplantation. She is also actively involved in the lung transplantation assembly of ERS, collaborating nationally and internationally in research projects and involved in guideline methodology and development.
