Lara Aygen Øzbay is a Nephrologist, PhD and Clinical Associate Professor at Department of Nephrology Aarhus University Hospital, Denmark. She is a UEMS Board certified Transplant Physician and has completed international observerships at Department of Transplantation Medicine at Oslo University Hospital, Norway and University medical centre Groningen Netherlands.
She is a part of the Transplant Team at Aarhus University Hospital, responsible for renal-, multiorgan and islet transplant recipients. She is the Danish representative for the Nordic Pancreas and Islet Transplant Group in ScandiaTransplant.
Her main research areas are clinical trials in Transplant recipients focusing on metabolic complications and she is currently planning a pilot study using allogeneic mesenchymal stromal cells for Transplant recipients with chronic antibody mediated rejection in collaboration with Center of Gene and Cell Therapy at Aarhus University Hospital Denmark. Her main aim is to expand research involving cell therapy for transplant recipients as a foundation for improving therapeutic options for these patients.
