Dr Fritz Diekmann is consultant nephrologist in the Department of Nephrology and Kidney Transplantation of the Hospital Clínic, Barcelona where he is especially implicated in the living donor kidney transplant program. He received his medical training at Charité Universitätsmedizin in Berlin, Germany, as well as in Caen, France and in Galveston, Texas. He performed his specialty training in Internal Medicine and Nephrology at the Charité Universitätsmedizin in Berlin, Germany. His main research interests are immunosuppressive strategies after kidney transplantation, especially in expanded criteria donor kidney transplantation as well as in hypersensitized kidney transplant patients. He is a member of the major nephrology and transplantation societies. He currently serves as secretary of the European Kidney Transplant Association of the European Society for Transplantation.
