Dr Fernanda Ortiz is the head of the outpatient clinic in Helsinki University Hospital, Department of nephrology. She received a diploma in kidney transplantation by UEMS and ESOT. Her research work is focused on complications after kidney transplantation, with a PhD on chronic allograft nephropathy. She has been a principal investigator in several multicenter international trials. Her clinical work is mainly as a senior physician and she oversees the living donor program in Helsinki. Besides the clinical work, she continues her career as a clinical researcher and as a tutor for PhD students. She has been involved in educational activities for nurses, medicine students, nephrology fellows and works very closely with kidney patients´ associations. In the last year she became the project manager for eHealth program in nephrology. Lately she joined the ESOT ambassador program and participated as lecturer in many webinars and is involved in the ESOT diversity and integration task force.
