Andrew Fisher is Professor of Respiratory Transplant Medicine at Newcastle University and a lung transplant physician at the Institute of Transplantation at Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Trust. He is Co-Director of the NIHR Blood and Transplant Research Unit in Organ Donation and Transplantation and leads a research group focused on all aspects of lung transplantation. He is chief investigator of the E-CLAD UK trial of ECP use in the treatment of Chronic Lung Allograft Dysfunction across the UK and supervises a team of scientists and clinicians who are working on better understanding how outcomes after lung transplant can be improved. He is a past President of the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT) and currently chairs the ISHLT Publications Oversight committee. He has published extensively in the field with an H index of 53 and >10,000 citations to date.
