Description & Objectives:

The ESOT Basic Science Committee would like to relaunch our webinar series which has been on hiatus since the 2023 ESOT Congress. Wherever possible, we would like to engage with and involve other ESOT sections to facilitate cross-working and teamwork within ESOT. As such, all topics are somewhat preliminary and subject to change upon discussion with relevant colleagues. That being said, we would like to continue with the established format of having an experienced colleague lay out the journey, followed by a younger colleague who can discuss the state of the art and future prospects. We would like to engage with patients for their views where possible as well as the wider Allied Health Professional where relevant. This would mean that a combination of physicians, surgeons, scientists, nurses, technicians, and patients may be involved in delivery depending on subject matter. We have already approached the YPT about helping to identify speakers and deliver the series.

Educational objectives
Stimulating thought, generating scientific discourse, and building links between ESOT sections.

This webinar series will continue to emphasise developments and translation of emerging transplant science technologies, focusing on the challenges and recent leaps forward with xenotransplantation. This will benefit the field by generating discussion and educating individuals on the present state of the art and where the field is headed, presenting the community’s needs to the broader ESOT audience.
