Description & Objectives:

Expected and unexpected donor-derived infections are a rare complication of solid organ transplantation but can result in significant morbidity and mortality. Climate change, massive tourist movements, international migration, and increases in world commercial exchanges are important underlying factors for the emergence and re-emergence of specific infectious diseases.

Autochthonous cases of West Nile Virus and Dengue are increasingly reported from European countries and may represent a major challenge for solid organ transplant recipients, whether from direct exposure or donor-derived transmission. Wanessa Trinidade Clemente from Brazil will present a case of Dengue transmission from an organ donor to two kidney recipients, and the discussion will address the diagnostic and therapeutic challenges.

The workshop will be held as an interactive online meeting and participation is limited to 25 attendees.
