Start Date:
Friday, May 06th 2022
End Date:
Sunday, May 08th 2022
Country:
Vienna, Austria
Description & Objectives:

PTDM remains a major complication after transplantation. The 1st International PTDM Consensus meeting from September 2013 provided an opportunity for experts in the field to consolidate existing evidence and clinical/research expertise in the field for a Consensus document that was published in 2014 (Sharif et Al. Am J Transplant 2014; 14(9): 1992-2000). It has proved a valuable resource for the international transplant community and cited extensively in the PTDM literature.

However, in the subsequent years the field of has evolved and it is timely to reconvene an expert meeting to consolidate new insight and developments. This includes evolution in our understanding of pathophysiology, greater understanding of heterogeneous immunosuppression protocols on PTDM versus patient/graft survival risk and new anti-diabetic agents that are revolutionising the treatment of diabetes in the non-transplant general population. The aim is to update this resource for the international transplant community and set the agenda for future research in an important area of post-transplant care.

Learning objectives:

  • Update the current evidence base
  • Discuss controversial issues of PTDM care
  • Determine a treatment hierarchy for PTDM management
