Julie is a Nurse Specialist within Child and Adolescent Haematology/Oncology, Haematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant and Clinical Apheresis. She has developed the Nurse led Clinical Apheresis service within the Great North Childrens Hospital in Newcastle upon Tyne UK including the international training programme with Therakos for small body weight extra-corporeal photopheresis.
She is in the final year of her PhD at Newcastle University her qualitative research explores: “The lived experiences of children young people and their families with life threatening conditions who have ongoing complex treatments”
This is an exploratory study and finding will be developed for further work.
She has a particular interest in Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) and is a facilitator for a young person’s advisory group. Julie is currently chair of the United Kingdom & Republic of Ireland Stem Cell Transplant Nurses group.
