Infectious Disease taskforce Chair

Paolo Grossi is Professor of Infectious Diseases at the School of Medicine University of Insubria, Varese, Italy. Since February 2001 he has been the Director of the Infectious and Tropical Diseases Unit of the ASST-Sette Laghi of Varese, Italy. 

Starting from 1999 he has been the advisor for all infectious diseases related problems at the Italian National Centre for Transplantation in Italy. He covers the role of “second opinion” for all organ donors with potentially transmissible infectious diseases. He is the chair of the ESCMID Study Group on infections in Immunocompromised Host and the past Chair of the ID Council of ISHLT. 

He was responsible for the chapter on the risk of transmission of Infectious Diseases of the Guide on Quality and Safety of Organs for Transplantation of the Council of Europe (5th, 6th, 7th,  8th edition and the ongoing 9th edition).
