Oriol Bestard

Dr. Oriol Bestard began his medical training at the Autonomous Barcelona University in 1994. In 2000 he graduated and subsequently started the Residency in Nephrology at Bellvitge University Hospital, where in 2005 he also carried out his fellowship in Transplant Nephrology. Form 2006-2008 he made a pre-doctoral fellowship in Transplant Immunology at Charité University of Medicine, where he developed his Ph.D. In 2013 he completed a 2-year post-doctoral fellowship at the Multiorgan Transplant Research Laboratory at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF, US) investigating new non-invasive immunological biomarkers of transplant rejection. In 2017 he became  head of the Kidney transplant departments at Bellvitge University Hospital (Barcelona, Spain) and associate professor of Medicine at the University of Barcelona. In 2021, he moved as chief f de partment of Nephrology and Kidney transplantation at Vall d’hebron University Hospital and is leads a translational research laboratory in at Vall d’Hebron institute of Reesearch (VHIR). He is currently associate professor at Barcelona Autonomous University. a Dr. Oriol Bestard also owns an own research group at IDIBELL (Barcelona), which the main focus of interest is immune-monitoring anti-viral and allogeneic and autoreactive adaptive immune responses.
