Born in Lebanon, Dr. Hadaya moved to Switzerland in 1978. She graduated in medicine from the University of Geneva in 1990, where she specialized in internal medicine and nephrology. She then moved to Paris, France and to Brussels, Belgium for a fellowship, in both clinical and experimental transplant nephrology. When she returned to Geneva in November 2004, Dr. Hadaya became the nephrologist in charge of the adult kidney transplantation program at Geneva University Hospitals. Since then, she has developed the living donor program and ABO-incompatible kidney transplantation and implemented the Swiss kidney paired donation program, of which she is the director. She actively collaborates with several European transplant centers for clinical research projects and is the Swiss representative of the European Network for Collaboration on Kidney Exchange Programmes.
