Emin Baris Akin

Dr Akin is the director of kidney and pancreas transplantation program at Istanbul Demiroglu University Florance Nightingale Hospital since 2004. He had completed medical degree and General Surgery Residency at Ankara University Medical School and completed the transplant surgery fellowship at Ohio State University Program in between 2001-2003. Extended his studies one more year at Ohio State University mainly focusing on advanced laparoscopic techniques in transplantation. He had “the young investigator award” in 2004 at American Transplant Meeting and was certified by American Society of Transplant Surgeons. His focus was immunosuppression and living donor nephrectomy techniques. He had extensive experience in retroperitoneoscopic hand assisted donor nephrectomy and alternatively performs robotic surgery. He also directs a reference center of vascular access for hemodialysis. He has been participating LIDO course as faculty since 2016. Also was faculty at Hesperis course in 2019. Has been chair for several Transplant Surgery meetings and courses in international arena as well. He performed several educational activities for developing countries mainly in Africa, Middle East and Asia. He is also the national delegate of Turkey at the UEMS Transplant Surgery Division.
