Basic Science lead 2022-2025

Daniele Dondossola is a liver transplant and HPB surgeon at Fondazione IRCCS Ca’ Granda Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico Milan. After a post-doc fellowship, he was recently awarded a staffed researcher position at Università degli Studi Milan. During his residency, he developed his clinical skills thanks to a fellowship at the Department of Visceral Surgery at the University of Heidelberg and at the Intensive Care Unit Vecla. Along with clinical activity, he has focused on preclinical research, working with a multidisciplinary team and with a particular interest in models of organ damage (lung and liver), animal welfare, extracorporeal circulation and machine perfusion (lung and liver). In clinical research his interests focus on machine perfusion and post-transplant infections. Due to his achievements in these areas, he has been involved in the development of guidelines for several national/international societies and in some preclinical international collaborations. His commitment in the educational field is carried out through teaching assignments at the degree course in Medicine and Biotech, the position of professor on contract at the school of specialty in General Surgery and trainer position in preclinical research.
