The European Liver and Intestine Transplant Association (ELITA), previously known as the European Liver Transplant Association (ELTA), is a section of ESOT. Its membership represents the expertise on liver and intestinal transplantation in Europe.
ELPAT is a European platform that brings continuity and progress in European research and dialogue on "Ethical, Legal and Psychosocial Aspects of organ Transplantation". ELPAT currently consists of over 160 experts from more than 25 European countries.
EPITA is established to provide a forum for those working in the field of pancreas and islet of Langerhans transplantation or any other alternative form of beta cell replacement in Europe, to exchange scientific information and views related primarily to providing the best service for patients in Europe requiring pancreas or islet transplantation.
VCA has opened a new era in the field of transplantation, reconstructive and restorative surgery. This Section brings together 10 representatives of major European teams at the forefront in this field.
The course will have a hybrid online and onsite format in Hospital Vall d’Hebron Barcelona. All registered participants will be able to follow the videoconference, and those specifically registered to attend will be able to practice «live» with cadaveric livers. There will be no limitation for online registrations, but 25 places will be limited for attendees.
During the course, not only the anatomical principles of the split technique will be addressed, but also how it is planned (logistics, sequence offering…) at a national level, the living donor and the full right-full left technique, the recipient procedure, and the follow-up of these grafts, including in metabolic conditions.
The course will end by demonstrating various options for dividing a liver and generating two functional grafts, mainly the left lateral sector and the complete right/left hemi-livers and demo partition with HOPE. This demonstration will be performed by the tutors and streamed to all participants. It will finish with a live workshop where attendants can practice themselves with a hands-on practical exercise.
