Course description
As of 2002, 13 years after its foundation, and after a period of affiliation with ESOT, the Hesperis Course was incorporated in the ESOT Educational Program and is managed by the Education Committee of ESOT. Training is the cornerstone of scientific achievement and expertise. Only specific training of the numerous specialists such as surgeons, physicians, immunologists, pathologists, biologists, etc. working in the field will continue to give transplantation its merited status. This status should enable transplantation to progress further, while at the same time it attracts many young doctors and researchers as a result of its multidisciplinary approach and intriguing research. The Hesperis Course attempts to provide training at the highest possible level. Courses are given by eminent transplant specialists and are attended by European physicians, surgeons, immunologists, pathologists and biologists dedicated to and working in the field of transplantation. Both, as a scientific and educational entity, the Hesperis Course consist of two separate sessions of one week that are held each academic year in two different European cities. Since 1990 more than thousand participants have attended the highly appreciated courses given by internationally recognized experts in the field.
